ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical compositions from the roots of Vladimiria souliei. Methods: The ethanol extract of the roots of V. souliei was isolated by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, MCI, HPLC, and C18 reverse-phase column chromatographies. Their physical and chemical structures were elucidated by analysis of NMR and MS spectroscopic data, and the absolute configuration of compound 1 was confirmed by Cu-Kα X-ray crystallographic analysis. Results: Three compounds were isolated from the roots of V. souliei, and named as 25-hydroxy-uvaol (1), vlasoudiol (2), and stigmasterol (3), respectively. Conclusion: Compounds 1 and 2 are identified as new compounds, and compound 3 is isolated from the roots of V. souliei for the first time.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents from the branches and leaves of Viburnum sargentii collected at Mountain Tai. Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by chromatographic methods, including silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20 columns, and RP HPLC. The structures of the isolated compounds were identified by ESI-MS, 1D-NMR, and 2D-NMR data analyses, and compared with the literature data. Results: Thirteen compounds were obtained from the 95% ethanol extract of branches and the leaves of V. sargentii, and determined as α-amyrin (1), uvaol (2), 3α-ursolic acid (3), 11,12-dehydroursolic acid lactone (4), 3-O-acetyloleanolic aldehyde (5), oleanolic acid (6), betulinic acid (7), magnolin (8), (+)-eudesmin (9), (-)-epieudesmin (10), vibsanol (11), 3,4'-dimethoxylvibsanol (12), and α-asarone (13), respectively. Conclusion: Compound 12 (3,4'- dimethoxylvibsanol) is a new natural product, and compounds 1-11 and 13 are isolated from V. sargentii for the first time.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents from the ethyl acetate extract fraction of 70% ethanol extract in the aerial parts of northeastern crowberry (Empetrum nigrum var. japonicum) and their effect on the alcohol fatty liver (AFL) of rats, and to provide the scientific basis for the use and development of the northeastern crowberry. Methods: Chromatography separation technology and spectral analysis technology were used for the separation, purification, structure analysis, and identification. AFL model of SD rats was induced by 45% ethanol. To observe the effect of ethyl acetate extract in northeastern crowberry on the liver index, serology, and liver tissue homogenates in AFL of rats. Results: Eight compounds were isolated and identified as β-sitosterol (1), ursolic acid (2), uvaol (3), 2',4'-dihydroxy dihydrochalcone (4), 2',4'-dihydroxy chalcone (5), 7-hydroxy flavone (6), 4'-methoxy-2'-hydroxyl-dihydroxy chalcone (7), and isoliquiritigenin (8). Compared with the model group, giving the ethyl acetate extract of northeastern crowberry could decrease the liver index of rats, reduce serum lipid metabolism of TG, TC, reduce the serum enzyme ALT, AST, liver homogenate in oxidative stress, and increase the activities of SOD and GSH. Conclusion: Compounds 1-4, and 6-8 are isolated from E. nigrum var. japonicum for the first time. The effect of ethyl acetate extract in E. nigrum var. japonicum on AFL of rats is obvious.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents of Ledum palustre. Methods: Compounds were isolated from n-hexane fraction in the ethanol extract from L. palustre by silica gel column chromatography and HPLC. The structures of the chemical constituents were identified by analysis on their spectral data. Results: Thirteen compounds were isolated from n-hexane fraction in the ethanol extract from L. palustre and identified as euphol acetate (1), lanosta-8, 24-dien-3-one (2), taraxerol (3), labda-8(17), 14-dien-13-ol (4), (24S)-stigmast-4-en-3-one (5), euphol (6), isopimaric acid (7), larixyl acetate (8), 28-hydroxyl-lupenone (9), β-sitosterol (10), isocalamendiol (11), erythrodiol (12), and uvaol (13). Conclusion: Compounds 2, 4-9, 11, and 12 are first obtained from the plants of Ledum L.
